Shopify Plus Checkout Blocks: Complete Setup Guide

Rivio blocks add content or input fields to supported checkout and account pages. Configure the content in Rivio and place the block in Shopify’s editor.

How this feature works

These blocks use the checkout-step UI surface on Shopify Plus. Configure content or behavior in Rivio, then add the matching extension to the supported editor location and save. Test the actual customer checkout: editor placement alone does not verify submitted fields, fees, or cart updates.

Before you begin

Use an eligible Shopify Plus store. Open Apps > Rivio Checkout Customizer and check the feature’s listed supported page. For a visual feature, configure it in Rivio and save its matching editor placement.

Worked example: Start a Plus-only checkout-block demonstration

Example setup: Shopify Plus and a test cart eligible for checkout.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open UI extension blocks and use the Checkout filter to inspect available Plus-only blocks.

  2. Choose Free shipping progress bar and set its threshold to $50 in the example currency.

  3. Configure the supported below-threshold and reached-threshold messages, and save as Active.

  4. Create the actual free-shipping rate or discount separately; the bar alone is a visual indicator.

  5. Open Shopify’s editor, place the matching bar on checkout in a supported location, and save.

  6. Test carts below and at the threshold, then use the individual guides to configure Payment icons, Edit line items, Delivery instructions, Gift options, Shipping method input, and Delivery method message.

Verify the result

Test case Expected result or verification
$40 eligible amount The bar indicates progress toward the configured $50 goal.
$50 eligible amount The bar shows its threshold-reached state.
No free-shipping benefit configured The bar does not independently remove a delivery charge.

If the result is different

Check What it means / what to do
Block unavailable in checkout Confirm Shopify Plus and the supported target location.
Visible but behavior differs Check the individual saved block options and actual checkout result, including submitted data or fees.
Progress bar says free shipping but a charge remains Configure and verify the separate actual shipping benefit with matching eligibility.
