How to Prepare Checkout and Post-Checkout Blocks with Sidekick

Rivio’s Sidekick integration lets you ask about setup, active rules, blocks, offers, plan information, validations, and analytics. For supported creation requests, Sidekick returns a link to a pre-filled Rivio form. Review the fields and save in Rivio to apply a change.

How this feature works

Sidekick can inspect Rivio setup and prepare supported configurations. Creation requests return a link to a prefilled Rivio form; they do not save the configuration. Review and save in Rivio, activate when intended, and add editor placement where the feature requires it. A read-only answer does not replace an end-to-end checkout test.

Before you begin

Open Rivio in the correct Shopify admin and use its available Sidekick entry point. Review prepared changes before saving. Shopify Plus is still required for Plus-only target features.

Worked example: Prepare a Thank you banner and a checkout progress bar

Example setup: A supported Thank you page; Shopify Plus for the checkout bar example.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Ask Add a banner on the Thank you page saying Orders ship within 2 business days.

  2. Open the pre-filled form, verify the complete message and Thank you target, then save as Active when intended.

  3. Open Shopify’s editor and place the matching banner on Thank you; save and complete a test order.

  4. For a checkout example, ask Add a free shipping progress bar at $50 and review currency, total basis, and message settings.

  5. Save and place the bar on supported Plus checkout. Configure the actual matching shipping benefit separately.

  6. For surveys or VAT/gift-message fields, check options, labels, required behavior, and the correct order/customer storage destination before saving.

  7. Test the actual customer surface and confirm any submitted values in the appropriate record.

Verify the result

Test case Expected result or verification
Banner prompt only Nothing should be saved without reviewing and saving the form.
Completed test order after placement The Thank you message appears.
$50 progress bar It displays progress; it does not itself create free shipping.
VAT input It collects the identifier without validating VAT status or adjusting tax.

If the result is different

Check What it means / what to do
Prefilled form is wrong Specify exact products/variants, payment or rate names, amount/currency, conditions, and target page.
No customer-facing change after prompt Review and save the prepared form in Rivio; add required editor placement separately.
Duplicate or unexpected response Check existing records before saving and report the exact prompt/response to support.
