How to Customize Shipping Methods on Shopify Checkout
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
Shipping rules hide, rename, or reorder delivery methods returned by your store’s shipping settings.
How this feature works
Shipping customizations act on eligible delivery rates returned for the current products and destination. Hide removes a matched rate, Rename changes its label, and Reorder changes supported positions. They do not create rates, change carrier service, or reduce shipping charges; use a shipping discount for price changes.
Before you begin
Open Apps > Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Prepare the cart, customer, products, address, or order needed by the example, and check the feature’s supported inputs before activating it.
Worked example: Choose hide, rename, or reorder for delivery
Example setup: Standard and Express rates eligible for the test product and address.
Step-by-step instructions
Open Shipping customizations and inspect the rates returned by a control checkout.
For a country restriction, create a Hide rule for Express when Shipping country equals India.
For a clearer promise, use Rename to change Standard to 5–7 business day delivery.
For ordering, use Reorder to place Standard in an earlier supported position.
Save and activate one rule, then test it with the same cart and address before combining customizations.
Inspect the rate price as well as its label and visibility.
Verify the result
| Test case | Expected result or verification |
|---|---|
| Rename rule | The label changes without changing rate cost. |
| Hide rule | Only the matched eligible rate is removed. |
| Free shipping goal | Use a shipping discount or free-shipping rate instead of a rename rule. |
If the result is different
| Check | What it means / what to do |
|---|---|
| Rate absent before the rule applies | Check product shipping profile, shipping zone, destination, and normal rate thresholds. |
| Rate label changed | Update the match to the actual returned rate name. |
| Unexpected visibility | Check all active shipping rules and the exact condition/operator, keeping at least one eligible delivery option. |
