How to hide a shipping method when selected products are in the cart
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
Hide a returned shipping rate when the cart contains a product matched by the rule.
When to use this guide
Use this when an otherwise available shipping service is unsuitable for particular products.
Before you begin
Open Apps → Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Use supported conditions from the current editor and record the exact amount, product, customer, or address basis before testing.
Worked example
Hide Express when Demo Fragile Vase is in the cart; retain Standard as an eligible alternative.
Step-by-step instructions
- Confirm Express and Standard appear for the test address without the rule.
- Create a Hide shipping rule and match the actual Express rate label.
- Add a supported product condition selecting Demo Fragile Vase.
- Save and activate the rule.
- Test the vase alone, an unrelated product alone, and a mixed cart containing both.
- Check returned rates and preserve at least one eligible delivery option.

Verify the result
| Test | Expected result or check |
|---|---|
| Scoped product present | Express is hidden when the product condition matches. |
| Unrelated product only | Express remains if normally eligible. |
| Mixed cart | Check the rule’s configured product-matching behaviour. |
Screenshot to add: Shipping options for scoped, unscoped, and mixed carts.
Limitations
- This does not create shipping rates or change carrier capability.
- Shipping profiles and normal rate eligibility still apply.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The expected result does not appear | Check the saved state, exact feature configuration, supported page, and matching test inputs. |
| The preview and actual page differ | Use a real test checkout, completed order, or signed-in account; editor data is simulated. |
| A change has an unexpected effect | Repeat the same test with one relevant setting changed. Review other active rules before adding another copy. |
