Shopify Shipping Method Customization Not Working? How to Fix It
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
If a shipping customization is not working, verify the underlying rate is eligible for the product and destination before changing the rule. Then inspect its exact label, activation, and conditions.
How this feature works
Shipping customizations act on eligible delivery rates returned for the current products and destination. Hide removes a matched rate, Rename changes its label, and Reorder changes supported positions. They do not create rates, change carrier service, or reduce shipping charges; use a shipping discount for price changes.
Before you begin
Open Apps > Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Prepare the cart, customer, products, address, or order needed by the example, and check the feature’s supported inputs before activating it.
Worked example: Diagnose an unexpected shipping-rate result
Example setup: The affected product variant, destination, and shipping profile.
Troubleshooting steps
Use a non-matching control checkout to confirm the target rate exists for that product and address.
Check Shopify Shipping and delivery: product profile, zone, weight/price thresholds, and the normal rate label.
Compare the actual checkout label with the Rivio match value; distinguish similarly named rates.
Check the Rivio rule is saved and Active and review any required Shopify delivery customization activation.
Test the exact condition, then inspect other active hide/rename/reorder rules.
Repeat the same cart and address after one correction, recording the before-and-after rate list.
Verify the result
| Test case | Expected result or verification |
|---|---|
| Rate absent without matching rule | Fix ordinary shipping eligibility first. |
| Rate name changed in Shopify | Update the Rivio match value. |
| Condition fails at its boundary | Review the chosen amount operator and total basis. |
If the result is different
| Check | What it means / what to do |
|---|---|
| Rate absent before the rule applies | Check product shipping profile, shipping zone, destination, and normal rate thresholds. |
| Rate label changed | Update the match to the actual returned rate name. |
| Unexpected visibility | Check all active shipping rules and the exact condition/operator, keeping at least one eligible delivery option. |
