How to Rename a Shipping Method on Shopify Checkout
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
Rename a shipping rate with a clear delivery promise. The example changes Standard to 5–7 business day delivery without changing the rate price or carrier service.
How this feature works
Shipping customizations act on eligible delivery rates returned for the current products and destination. Hide removes a matched rate, Rename changes its label, and Reorder changes supported positions. They do not create rates, change carrier service, or reduce shipping charges; use a shipping discount for price changes.
Before you begin
Open Apps > Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Prepare the cart, customer, products, address, or order needed by the example, and check the feature’s supported inputs before activating it.
Worked example: Explain delivery time in the shipping label
Example setup: A shipping rate currently called Standard.
Step-by-step instructions
Open Shipping customizations and create a Rename rule.
Match the existing rate Standard exactly.
Enter 5–7 business day delivery as the replacement label, using a promise your fulfillment team can meet.
Leave conditions empty only if the rename should apply wherever that matched rate appears; save and activate.
Use a cart and address served by Standard, then check the label and cost.
Verify the result
| Test case | Expected result or verification |
|---|---|
| Eligible checkout | The new label appears while the rate cost remains unchanged. |
| Unrelated rate | Its label is unchanged. |
Important: Renaming does not change transit time, carrier service, or rate price.
If the result is different
| Check | What it means / what to do |
|---|---|
| Rate absent before the rule applies | Check product shipping profile, shipping zone, destination, and normal rate thresholds. |
| Rate label changed | Update the match to the actual returned rate name. |
| Unexpected visibility | Check all active shipping rules and the exact condition/operator, keeping at least one eligible delivery option. |
