TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

A Rivio bundle maps one bundle product variant to the component variants that appear when the bundle expands in the cart.

How this feature works

Shoppers add the selected parent bundle variant. Rivio maps that parent to component variants and quantities. Each component Price override is per unit; a blank override uses its regular price. Multiply price by quantity for every component before adding the total. Components must total no more than the parent price for expansion.

Before you begin

Prepare a dedicated parent bundle product variant and the exact available component variants. Record the parent price, component quantities, and any per-unit price overrides before testing.

Worked example: Create a three-unit Starter Kit bundle

Example setup: Dedicated Starter Kit parent variant priced $25; Shirt and Keyring component variants.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. In Shopify create the parent Starter Kit product variant at $25. This is the variant shoppers add, not a component.

  2. Open Product bundles, create Starter Kit demo, and select that exact parent under Bundle product.

  3. Optionally set Cart display title to Starter Kit — 2 shirts + keyring.

  4. Add the Shirt component, set Qty to 2 and optional per-unit Price to $10.

  5. Add the Keyring component, set Qty to 1 and per-unit Price to $5. The weighted total is 2 × $10 + 1 × $5 = $25.

  6. Review Cart preview and confirm the total is no more than the parent’s $25 price. Save and activate.

  7. Add one parent to a fresh cart and inspect the expanded component variants, quantities, title, and checkout total.

  8. For the pricing guide, change one component quantity and recalculate the weighted total before saving.

Verify the result

Test case Expected result or verification
One Starter Kit Expected component quantities are 2 shirts and 1 keyring.
Two Starter Kits Check the corresponding doubled quantities and totals.
Blank component Price The regular component price is used; recalculate with that value.
Weighted components above parent price The bundle stays a single parent product until pricing is corrected.

Important: Component Price is per unit. A request for a percentage saving requires calculating intended component prices; it is not a percentage field in this mapping.

If the result is different

Check What it means / what to do
Parent remains one line Confirm the mapped parent variant and calculate every component Price × Qty against the parent price.
Wrong quantities or prices Check selected component variants, quantities, per-unit overrides, and blank-price regular catalog values.
Breaks after a catalog change Recalculate the price guard and retest a fresh cart, including each supported market/currency.
