How to Discount a Specific Shipping Method
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure, test, and deploy this feature to your live Shopify store.
Automatic discount rules reduce eligible product, order, or shipping charges when their configured conditions match.
Choose a shipping discount and target the actual rate. For free shipping above $75, use a 100% shipping discount with the appropriate cart-value condition; decide whether the boundary is greater than $75 or at least $75.
Before you begin
Open the correct store in Shopify admin and go to Apps > Rivio Checkout Customizer. Use an internal configuration name that clearly describes its purpose.
Set up the feature
- Open Discounts & upsells and select the shipping discount or product/order discount module.
- Create a rule and give it an internal name. Choose the discount class that matches the benefit.
- Select the eligible products or shipping method where required. Choose a percentage or fixed amount supported by the editor and enter the value.
- Add eligibility conditions, such as cart value or customer type. Review any combination and schedule settings shown in the form.
- Save, confirm Active status, and review the corresponding discount in Shopify admin.
How it works
A product discount applies to selected products, an order discount reduces the eligible order amount, and a shipping discount reduces an eligible shipping rate. A free-shipping progress bar is a visual message and does not create a shipping discount.
Test your setup
Test below, at, and above any threshold. Confirm the actual amount reduced in checkout and repeat with another discount applied if combinations are part of your offer.
Important notes
Use the currency and amount basis shown in the editor. Do not assume every discount combines with every other discount; Shopify combination rules still apply.
