How to keep a free shipping progress bar aligned with your shipping discount

Configure the progress bar and actual shipping benefit to describe the same offer.

When to use this guide

Use this when customers see a free-shipping message but still receive a shipping charge.

Before you begin

Use Shopify Plus and the current Rivio feature entitlement. Save the active configuration and its matching supported checkout placement before testing.

Worked example

Offer free Standard shipping at an eligible amount of $50 or more in one test currency. Restrict both the offer and visual message to the intended destination.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Record the actual free-shipping rate or shipping discount eligibility, including method, destination, currency, and amount basis.
  2. Open Free shipping progress bar and configure the matching goal and messages.
  3. Check boundary operators carefully. A greater-than $50 discount does not qualify an order of exactly $50.
  4. Save the active bar and checkout placement; activate and verify the separate shipping benefit.
  5. Test amounts of $49.99, $50, and $50.01 using the same amount basis. Compare the message with the actual shipping charge.
  6. Repeat with another rate and an ineligible destination. Adjust the visual conditions or wording if free shipping does not apply there.

Verify the result

Limitations

  • The bar does not create free shipping.
  • Currency conversion and discounted amount bases must be tested per feature.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to check
The expected result does not appear Check the saved state, exact feature configuration, supported page, and matching test inputs.
The preview and actual page differ Use a real test checkout, completed order, or signed-in account; editor data is simulated.
A change has an unexpected effect Repeat the same test with one relevant setting changed. Review other active rules before adding another copy.
