What you will achieve in this guide

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

Rivio blocks add content or input fields to supported checkout and account pages. Configure the content in Rivio and place the block in Shopify’s editor.

How this feature works

Visual blocks need both a saved Rivio configuration and a saved placement on a supported Shopify editor page. Configured indicates saved setup; Detected in editor indicates placement information. Neither status alone proves the block is visible to every buyer, because page eligibility, Active status, and conditions still apply.

Before you begin

Checkout-step visual blocks require Shopify Plus. Supported Thank you and Order status blocks are available on Basic and higher. Check the page labels on the block’s Rivio card; a card does not necessarily support every page.

Worked example: Configure and place a single banner end to end

Example setup: A Shopify Plus store for checkout placement, or a supported Thank you page on Basic or higher.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open UI extension blocks > Custom banner and create a configuration named Dispatch message.

  2. Enter Orders ship within 2 business days, choose an informational tone, and leave display conditions empty for the first test.

  3. Save the configuration as Active. Note which pages its card supports.

  4. Open the Checkout and Accounts Editor and choose the intended configuration and exact target page.

  5. Use Add app block in a supported location, select the matching Rivio banner, and select the saved configuration if prompted.

  6. Save the editor. Test the actual page using a checkout or completed order appropriate to that surface.

  7. Edit the message in Rivio and save; verify the content change without removing and recreating the placement.

Verify the result

Test case Expected result or verification
Saved in Rivio only Configuration exists but has no guaranteed customer placement.
Saved in Rivio and editor The active banner appears on the supported target page.
Banner set to Draft The saved configuration is not an active customer-facing message.

If the result is different

Check What it means / what to do
Configured but not visible Confirm the matching block is placed and saved on the exact supported Shopify page/configuration.
Only some buyers see it Compare Active status and condition inputs, including customer login and surface data.
Submitted value cannot be found Verify actual submission and inspect the correct form, order attribute, or customer record for that feature.

Check page-specific data

Customer-tag conditions require logged-in customer context. Selected shipping method is unavailable on Order status. Days since order is available only on Thank you/Order status. On Profile, only Customer, Language, Market, and Time on page conditions are evaluated; cart/order conditions are ignored.
