Does Rivio Checkout Customizer Modify Your Shopify Theme?
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
Rivio’s official extension setup does not require edits to storefront theme files. Configure the app and Shopify’s supported checkout/account extension surfaces rather than inserting theme snippets.
Before you begin
Use the intended Shopify store and an admin account with the permissions required for this task.
Worked example: Understand where customization lives
Example setup: A configured Rivio banner and access to Shopify’s checkout editor.
Step-by-step instructions
Open the banner settings in Rivio to see its content and conditions.
Open Shopify’s Checkout and Accounts Editor to locate its placed extension.
Compare this with Online Store theme editing: Rivio’s official extension setup does not require injecting theme snippets.
Change the banner wording in Rivio and save, then verify the customer page.
Remove only its editor placement in a demo configuration if you want to observe placement behavior; retain the app configuration for re-adding it.
Verify the result
| Test case | Expected result or verification |
|---|---|
| Banner content edited in Rivio | The placed extension uses the saved configuration. |
| Placement removed and editor saved | That page no longer has the placed banner. |
| Theme files | A merchant does not need to edit them to configure these official extension surfaces. |
Important: Checkout/account layouts and function-based rules are different from storefront theme sections.
If the result is different
| Check | What it means / what to do |
|---|---|
| Need to edit the message | Edit and save the block configuration in Rivio. |
| Need to move/remove the block | Use the matching page in Shopify’s Checkout and Accounts Editor and save the placement change. |
