Rivio Checkout Customizer FAQs

What you will achieve in this guide

Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.

EXPECTED SETUP TIME Varies by feature
COMPATIBILITY See requirements in this guide
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

These answers explain the most common distinctions that prevent setup mistakes: feature eligibility, configuration versus placement, data storage, and what Sidekick saves.

Common questions

Do all visual blocks work on every page?

Checkout-step visual blocks require Shopify Plus. Supported Thank you and Order status blocks are available on Basic and higher. Check the page labels on the block’s Rivio card; a card does not necessarily support every page.

Is a saved Rivio configuration enough?

For visual features, also place and save the matching block in Shopify’s editor. Function-based rules instead need their rule activation.

Do customer tags work anonymously?

Use a logged-in customer when testing stored tags; do not assume anonymous checkout exposes them.

Does a free-shipping progress bar grant the discount?

No. It displays progress; configure and verify the actual shipping benefit separately.

Does a VAT field validate VAT or calculate taxes?

No. It collects the identifier; verification and tax behavior are separate.

Does Sidekick save changes for me?

Creation prompts prepare a form. Review and save in Rivio yourself.

Does Buy Again charge the customer automatically?

No. It starts a new cart from the selected items, subject to current catalog and checkout rules.

Before you begin

Open Apps > Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Prepare the cart, customer, products, address, or order needed by the example, and check the feature’s supported inputs before activating it.

Worked example: Answer the most common setup questions with a test

Example setup: A supported post-checkout banner and an optional function-based rule.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Check your Shopify plan before selecting the target surface: checkout-step UI blocks require Plus; supported Thank you/Order status blocks use Basic or higher.

  2. Configure a banner in Rivio, save as Active, and place it separately on the intended Shopify editor page.

  3. If the banner is missing, inspect placement, status, and conditions rather than relying only on Configured/Detected counters.

  4. For a customer-tag condition, test a logged-in tagged customer; for Profile, use only the conditions evaluated there.

  5. For a function-based payment/shipping/discount/validation rule, verify activation and matching inputs instead of adding an unrelated visual block.

  6. If using Sidekick, review its pre-filled form and save the change in Rivio yourself, then test the customer result.

Verify the result

Test case Expected result or verification
Is Rivio configuration alone enough for visual content? No; save the supported Shopify editor placement too.
Does a progress bar grant free shipping? No; configure the real shipping benefit separately.
Does a VAT field validate VAT? No; it collects the value.
Does a post-checkout offer silently update the original order? Follow and verify its displayed purchase flow; do not assume that behavior.

If the result is different

Check What it means / what to do
Function-based rule is ineffective Check activation, exact scope, conditions, and test inputs.
Visual block is missing Check saved Active configuration, supported surface, and editor placement.
Problem remains after one correction Gather the actual customer result, relevant settings, and repeatable cart/order details for support.
