How to configure and test product, order, and shipping discount combinations
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
Check whether intended product, order, and shipping discounts can be used together and where their benefits apply.
When to use this guide
Use this when a merchant wants multiple offers to work together without assuming every discount stacks.
Before you begin
Open Apps → Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Use supported conditions from the current editor and record the exact amount, product, customer, or address basis before testing.
Worked example
Use a 10% product discount on a $20 item and a separate shipping discount. Record each discount’s supported combination settings.
Step-by-step instructions
- Create and verify the product discount by itself on the scoped item.
- Create and verify the shipping discount by itself on its scoped rate.
- Review the combination settings of each discount in Rivio and Shopify, including the other discount’s eligibility.
- Activate the intended pair and open the same qualifying checkout.
- Inspect product, order, and shipping allocations separately. Add a valid code only when that combination is intended and permitted.
- Repeat with an ineligible product or rate to distinguish eligibility from a combination restriction.

Verify the result
| Test | Expected result or check |
|---|---|
| Each discount alone | The intended benefit applies to its own scope. |
| Allowed combination | Inspect the actual final allocations. |
| Disallowed combination | Do not promise both benefits; inspect Shopify’s result. |

Limitations
- PromoLock restrictions are separate from Shopify combination permissions.
- One eligible discount does not make every other offer combinable.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The expected result does not appear | Check the saved state, exact feature configuration, supported page, and matching test inputs. |
| The preview and actual page differ | Use a real test checkout, completed order, or signed-in account; editor data is simulated. |
| A change has an unexpected effect | Repeat the same test with one relevant setting changed. Review other active rules before adding another copy. |
