How to Use Customer, Company, and Address Blocks

What you will achieve in this guide

Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.

EXPECTED SETUP TIME 5-10 Minutes
COMPATIBILITY All Shopify Themes & Plans
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

Smart blocks collect grouped Shopify customer, company, and address information without adding each sub-field separately.

Before you begin

Open the intended form in the builder and identify what the answer will be used for: review only, field mapping, a visibility condition, or an approval rule. Choose the answer type before configuring those dependencies.

What the grouped blocks do

Customer contact groups applicant contact details, Company groups business information, and Address groups an address with country and region selection. One block can replace several individually added questions and make the resulting record easier to inspect.

Collecting a Company block does not enable company creation by itself; that is a separate after-approval setting. Review the included sub-fields before adding duplicates. Company answers remain useful in the submission even where a particular answer is not persisted to a Shopify company field.

Set up this workflow

  1. Open the form and select Add field.

  2. Choose Customer contact for contact details, Company (B2B) for business details, or Address for an address.

  3. Expand the block and review the included sub-fields.

  4. Configure the labels, required settings, and applicable mapping.

  5. Review the preview to avoid collecting the same email or address twice.

  6. Save, submit a test application, and inspect the grouped answers in Submissions.

Example

Add a Customer contact block and a Company block to a test wholesale form. Inspect their sub-fields before adding any separate email or company-name fields.

Expected result

Contact and business information is captured without unnecessary duplicate questions.

Limits and important behavior

  • Only the first email address is used for the customer as indicated in the builder.
  • Company creation requires the separate after-approval setting.
  • Not every submitted company answer is written to a Shopify company record.

Troubleshooting and verification

If a contact detail appears twice, compare standalone fields with the sub-fields already included in Customer, Company, or Address. If no Shopify company is created, inspect the separate company-creation setting and approval status; adding a Company block only collects the answers.

Screenshots to add

Screenshot placeholder: Capture the relevant app screen for “How to Use Customer, Company, and Address Blocks” after completing the setup. Show the controls used to open the form and select Add field. Add a second screenshot showing the result of this check: Save, submit a test application, and inspect the grouped answers in Submissions. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
