How to troubleshoot multiple validation rules affecting the same checkout
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
Find which active validation still blocks a checkout after another problem has been corrected.
When to use this guide
Use this when clearing one error does not allow the customer to continue.
Before you begin
Open Apps → Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Use supported conditions from the current editor and record the exact amount, product, customer, or address basis before testing.
Worked example
Use a minimum order rule and a product quantity maximum in a controlled test cart.
Step-by-step instructions
- List the active validations, their invalid conditions, schedules, run locations, and error text.
- Create a cart that violates only the minimum rule and record its error.
- Create a cart that violates only the quantity rule and record its error.
- Create a cart that violates both and observe the messages at each configured run location.
- Correct one issue and retry. Check the other rule before treating the remaining block as stale.
- Correct every invalid input and confirm the flow passes these rules; review other active validations if it remains blocked.

Verify the result
| Test | Expected result or check |
|---|---|
| Only one invalid rule | Its configured error is identifiable. |
| One of two problems corrected | The other active invalid rule may still block. |
| Both corrected | These rules no longer describe an invalid state. |
Screenshot to add: The errors before and after correcting each invalid input.
Limitations
- Do not assume a documented priority determines which message is shown first.
- Schedules and missing data must be checked per rule.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The expected result does not appear | Check the saved state, exact feature configuration, supported page, and matching test inputs. |
| The preview and actual page differ | Use a real test checkout, completed order, or signed-in account; editor data is simulated. |
| A change has an unexpected effect | Repeat the same test with one relevant setting changed. Review other active rules before adding another copy. |
