How to configure payment methods for tagged customers or B2B buyers

What you will achieve in this guide

Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.

COMPATIBILITY See requirements in this guide
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

Apply a supported customer condition to a method customisation and test the intended audience.

When to use this guide

Use this when wholesale or business buyers should see a different eligible method list.

Before you begin

Open Apps → Rivio Checkout Customizer in the intended store. Use supported conditions from the current editor and record the exact amount, product, customer, or address basis before testing.

Worked example

Use a customer tagged wholesale and an untagged control customer. If the editor supplies B2B context, test that as a separate policy.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Choose Hide, Rename, or Reorder and select the actual method returned by checkout.
  2. Add the supported customer-tag condition wholesale for a tag-based rule.
  3. If the policy concerns Shopify B2B buyers, use its supported B2B/customer-type input rather than substituting a tag. Keep the two models distinct.
  4. Save and activate. Sign in as the qualifying customer and inspect the method list.
  5. Repeat as the untagged customer and as an anonymous buyer using the same cart and address.
  6. Confirm the intended audience matches before combining customer and amount or destination conditions.

Verify the result

Test Expected result or check
Qualifying signed-in buyer The configured customisation applies.
Untagged control buyer The tag-specific rule does not match.
Anonymous buyer Do not assume logged-in customer-tag context is available.

Limitations

  • A customer tag is not equivalent to a Shopify B2B company context.
  • Rules act on otherwise eligible methods; they do not create providers or rates.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to check
The expected result does not appear Check the saved state, exact feature configuration, supported page, and matching test inputs.
The preview and actual page differ Use a real test checkout, completed order, or signed-in account; editor data is simulated.
A change has an unexpected effect Repeat the same test with one relevant setting changed. Review other active rules before adding another copy.
