How to Choose an Existing Spreadsheet and Sync Tab
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.
Select an existing Google spreadsheet through Google Picker and choose which tab receives Rivio application data.
Before you begin
Use the intended service account and select the destination list, channel, spreadsheet tab, or endpoint. Decide whether you are testing a new-submission event or an approval event, and use a clearly identifiable test application.
Select the file and then the tab
Choose existing spreadsheet opens Google Picker in a new tab through a secure, time-limited signed link. Select the intended file using the connected account, then return to settings to choose the tab that should receive rows.
A spreadsheet can contain several tabs, so selecting the file alone is not enough. Check the displayed file name/link and selected tab before testing. If the signed link expires, reopen Picker from the app rather than reusing an old bookmarked link.
Set up this workflow
Open the connected Google Sheets integration.
Select Choose existing spreadsheet.
Allow the Google Picker to open in its new tab from the app-generated signed link.
Select the intended spreadsheet using the authorized account.
Return to settings, choose the destination tab, and save.
Check the displayed spreadsheet name/link and confirm a test submission reaches that tab.
Example
Prepare a spreadsheet with Applications and Archive tabs. Choose it through Google Picker and select Applications as the sync tab.
Expected result
The settings show the selected sheet name/link and new test data appears in Applications.
Limits and important behavior
- The Picker link is secure and time-limited; reopen it from the app if it expires.
- Check browser popup or new-tab blocking if the chooser does not open.
- Selecting a spreadsheet explicitly grants the app file access within the drive.file model.
Troubleshooting and verification
If Picker does not open, check new-tab blocking and reopen it from app settings. If the link expired, generate a fresh one. After choosing the file, save the intended tab and verify a new row there rather than in a similarly named spreadsheet.
Screenshots to add
Screenshot placeholder: Capture the relevant app screen for “How to Choose an Existing Spreadsheet and Sync Tab” after completing the setup. Show the controls used to open the connected Google Sheets integration. Add a second screenshot showing the result of this check: Check the displayed spreadsheet name/link and confirm a test submission reaches that tab. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
