How to Connect Mailchimp

What you will achieve in this guide

Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.

EXPECTED SETUP TIME 5-10 Minutes
COMPATIBILITY All Shopify Themes & Plans
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

Connect Mailchimp to Shopify registration forms so applicant information can reach your email-marketing workflow.

Before you begin

Use the intended service account and select the destination list, channel, spreadsheet tab, or endpoint. Decide whether you are testing a new-submission event or an approval event, and use a clearly identifiable test application.

Choose the intended audience

The Mailchimp integration adds the applicant to the configured audience as subscribed and supports first-name data. The form needs an applicant email; without one the email-marketing action is skipped.

An audience identifier is not simply its display name unless the app requests the name. Use the current integration fields, then check the contact inside the intended audience before connecting the form to live traffic.

Set up this workflow

  1. Open Integrations and select Mailchimp.

  2. Use an authorized Mailchimp account to obtain the credentials requested by the app.

  3. Enter the API key or connection credentials in the integration settings.

  4. Set the audience destination using its required identifier where applicable.

  5. Save the connection and submit a non-spam test containing an applicant email.

  6. Check Mailchimp for the expected subscriber and test a supported approval event if your workflow uses it.

Example

Connect a test Mailchimp audience and submit a valid contact email with a first name.

Expected result

The contact appears in the intended audience with the supported name information.

Limits and important behavior

  • Adds the applicant to an audience as subscribed, including first name when provided.
  • The form must provide an email through an Email field or Customer block.
  • Review consent and subscription requirements for your marketing workflow.
  • Keep integration credentials private; background failures should be investigated without resubmitting approvals blindly.

Troubleshooting and verification

If data does not reach the destination, confirm the application exists and is not Spam, then check the connection, event, and selected destination. Email-marketing services need an applicant email. Background failures do not undo a received submission.

Screenshots to add

Screenshot placeholder: Capture the relevant app screen for “How to Connect Mailchimp” after completing the setup. Show the controls used to open Integrations and select Mailchimp. Add a second screenshot showing the result of this check: Check Mailchimp for the expected subscriber and test a supported approval event if your workflow uses it. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
