How to Connect Google Sheets

What you will achieve in this guide

Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.

EXPECTED SETUP TIME 5-10 Minutes
COMPATIBILITY All Shopify Themes & Plans
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

Connect Shopify registration submissions to Google Sheets using the Google-approved drive.file authorization flow available to all shops.

Before you begin

Use the intended service account and select the destination list, channel, spreadsheet tab, or endpoint. Decide whether you are testing a new-submission event or an approval event, and use a clearly identifiable test application.

Google-approved file-specific access

Google Sheets is available to all shops in the current release. The connection uses the non-sensitive drive.file scope approved by Google. Choose either a spreadsheet created by the app or one selected through Google Picker, then choose the tab receiving new submission rows.

The displayed sheet name and link help confirm the destination. Connecting Google does not mean every spreadsheet in Drive is already selected or accessible to the app. Submit a fresh non-spam application to check the chosen tab.

Set up this workflow

  1. Open Integrations and select Google Sheets.

  2. Start the Google connection using the authorized merchant account.

  3. Review and grant the requested drive.file access.

  4. Choose Create new spreadsheet or Choose existing spreadsheet.

  5. Select the sheet tab you want to sync to and save the connection.

  6. Submit a non-spam test application and confirm a row appears in the selected tab.

Example

Connect Google and select a test spreadsheet tab named Applications. Submit one non-spam application with a distinctive demo business name.

Expected result

A row containing the test submission reaches the selected tab; Google Sheets is available to all shops in this release.

Limits and important behavior

  • The current integration is in production and available to all shops.
  • drive.file limits access to files created by or explicitly selected for the app; it is not broad access to every spreadsheet.
  • The app displays the connected spreadsheet name and link in settings.

Troubleshooting and verification

If the connection succeeds but no row appears, inspect the displayed spreadsheet link and selected tab, then use a fresh non-spam submission. The drive.file connection covers created or explicitly selected files; it does not automatically grant access to every file in Drive.

Screenshots to add

Screenshot placeholder: Capture the relevant app screen for “How to Connect Google Sheets” after completing the setup. Show the controls used to open Integrations and select Google Sheets. Add a second screenshot showing the result of this check: Submit a non-spam test application and confirm a row appears in the selected tab. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
