How to Create an Auto-Reject Rule
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.
Automatically reject Shopify wholesale applications that match your disqualification criteria.
Before you begin
Review the form’s questions, saved approval settings, and active rule order. Have controlled applications ready for matching and nonmatching cases. Check Shopify B2B availability separately before enabling company creation.
Express a specific disqualifying condition
An auto-reject rule declines applications whose submitted answers match a disqualifying policy. Numeric thresholds, unsupported buyer types, or other concrete criteria can be used where the field provides an appropriate operator.
Use manual review instead when the answer needs interpretation. Review earlier rules: an approval above the rejection can win first for an overlapping application. Test both sides of the threshold before exposing the policy to live buyers.
Set up this workflow
Open the form’s Advanced settings and select Add rule.
Name the rule to describe the reason for rejection.
Choose All or Any matching appropriate to the criteria.
Select the field, operator, and value that define the disqualifying case.
Choose the reject decision, review email behavior, activate, and save.
Test a matching application and confirm the recorded rejection before enabling the rule for live traffic.
Example
Reject a Number-field purchase-volume answer below your minimum qualifying volume.
Expected result
A fresh application matching the disqualifying condition is Rejected, with the configured applicant-email behavior.
Limits and important behavior
- Rejection is a decision, not a request for more information.
- Avoid overly broad conditions that reject legitimate buyers.
- Review priority so an earlier approval rule does not override the intended rejection.
Troubleshooting and verification
If suitable applicants are rejected, inspect inclusive versus exclusive numeric thresholds and higher-priority rules. Test values below, at, and above the cutoff. Put exceptions requiring manual review ahead of a broad rejection when that matches your policy.

Show the controls used to open the form’s Advanced settings and select Add rule. Add a second screenshot showing the result of this check: Test a matching application and confirm the recorded rejection before enabling the rule for live traffic. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
