Understand Match any product versus matching every cart item
Choose how a product-scoped payment option handles mixed carts.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification → Payment options → Match any product in the cart in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Select the relevant products, variants or collections for the option.
- Enable Match any product in the cart when one matching item should qualify.
- Turn it off when every cart item must match.
- Save the option.
- Build a cart containing only matching items.
- Add an unrelated item and compare the result.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Payment options → Match any product in the cart — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
With one selected product and one unrelated product, On allows the option when any item matches; Off requires every item to match.
Limitations and important behaviour
- This switch describes item matching, not an OR relationship between every condition on the form.
- Cart-value and postal-code conditions can still prevent the option from appearing.
- Collection checkout limitations still apply.
Test and confirm the result
Test matching-only, unrelated-only and mixed carts while keeping the other conditions unchanged.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
