Customize payment-option wording, descriptions and amount placeholders
Explain the offer accurately without changing its underlying payment calculation.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification → Payment options → What the customer sees in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open What the customer sees in a payment option.
- Enter Price wording only if an alternative display phrase is useful; leave it blank for the calculated figure.
- Add a short Sub-heading if needed.
- Write the Description template using the placeholders listed beside the field.
- Use supported placeholders such as {{pay_now}}, {{pay_later}}, {{total}} and {{discount}}.
- Save and preview more than one cart total.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Payment options → What the customer sees — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
Pay {{pay_now}} now and {{pay_later}} on delivery explains the split using calculated values instead of a hard-coded deposit.
Limitations and important behaviour
- Price wording changes what is shown, never what the shopper is charged.
- Use only placeholders shown by the current form; do not assume {{cod_fee}} is supported because an earlier document listed it.
- Avoid a static from-price that misrepresents the actual checkout amount.
Test and confirm the result
Confirm placeholders resolve, amounts match checkout and the wording stays readable on mobile.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
