Limit payment options to products, variants or collections

Scope an offer to the intended merchandise.

Before you start

Open Features → COD verification → Payment options → Which items this option applies to in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the payment option and locate Which items this option applies to.
  2. Choose Any item in the cart for an unrestricted product scope, or select Chosen products, Chosen variants or Chosen collections.
  3. Select the intended entries using the picker.
  4. Set Match any product in the cart according to the mixed-cart behaviour you need.
  5. Save.
  6. Test a matching item, an unrelated item and a mixed cart.

Example and use case

Choose a specific variant when only one size qualifies. Choosing a product includes every variant of that product, as the form notes.

Limitations and important behaviour

  • The interface warns that collection membership cannot be rechecked at checkout; a collection-only offer should be treated accordingly.
  • Do not assume an exclusion selector exists merely because the older scope document mentioned one.
  • These conditions govern the option, not courier coverage.

Test and confirm the result

Check another variant of the same product and a product outside the selected collection before publishing the offer.

Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
