Offer full payment upfront

Let shoppers choose to pay the full amount before delivery.

Before you start

Open Features → COD verification → Payment options in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Create or edit a payment option.
  2. Choose the full-payment amount type.
  3. Enter a clear option name and turn Status On.
  4. Apply eligibility conditions only where needed.
  5. Add a prepaid discount if that is part of the offer and explain the final customer benefit.
  6. Save and complete a test checkout with the full-payment choice.

Example and use case

A shopper chooses full payment rather than a 30% deposit and pays the applicable total at checkout.

Limitations and important behaviour

  • Full payment is distinct from a partial deposit and should not be described as leaving a COD balance.
  • Do not promise a discount unless one is configured and appears in checkout.
  • Available online payment methods are still controlled by Shopify payment settings.

Test and confirm the result

Confirm the full amount and any discount at checkout, then inspect the order to ensure no unintended delivery balance remains.

Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
