How to troubleshoot Buy Again with unavailable products, changed prices, or missing actions
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow the feature-specific setup and testing instructions below. Check the supported pages and plan requirements before activating the feature.
Check Buy Again placement and the current products and prices used for a new purchase.
When to use this guide
Use this when customers cannot see the action or expect the original order’s prices and products.
Before you begin
Use current supported customer accounts and a signed-in customer with a past order. Confirm Buy Again is enabled and placed in the supported account action or menu location.
Worked example
Use a past order containing a shirt and bottle, then select only the available shirt for a new cart.
Step-by-step instructions
- Confirm the signed-in customer owns the order being opened.
- Open Customer accounts → Buy again in Rivio and verify the saved enabled state.
- Check the supported action or menu placement in Shopify’s customer-account editor and save any intended correction.
- Launch Buy Again and inspect available products and variants. Compare them with the current Shopify catalog.
- Select the available shirt, choose quantity 2, and inspect the generated cart’s variant, price, and quantity.
- If an item is unavailable or changed, record its current catalog state and the observed response. Confirm current discounts and rules separately before purchase.

Verify the result
| Test | Expected result or check |
|---|---|
| Action missing | Check enabled state, supported accounts, customer ownership, and placement. |
| Price changed | The new purchase uses current catalog and checkout pricing. |
| Unavailable item | Do not promise restoration of the historical product or variant. |
Screenshot to add: Past-order selection beside the resulting current cart.
Limitations
- Buy Again starts a new purchase and does not automatically charge the customer.
- Historical discounts and payments are not guaranteed to carry over.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The expected result does not appear | Check the saved state, exact feature configuration, supported page, and matching test inputs. |
| The preview and actual page differ | Use a real test checkout, completed order, or signed-in account; editor data is simulated. |
| A change has an unexpected effect | Repeat the same test with one relevant setting changed. Review other active rules before adding another copy. |
