Hide the COD shipping rate until the customer is verified
Control visibility of the shipping rate recognized as the COD rate before verification.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification → Verification → At checkout in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Set up the COD shipping rate and its identifying keyword.
- Open the Verification tab.
- Enable Hide the COD shipping rate until verified.
- Save.
- Test the delivery options before verification.
- Complete verification and return to the delivery step to inspect available rates.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Verification → At checkout — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
A COD-specific shipping option is hidden until the shopper has completed verification, while suitable standard shipping remains available.
Limitations and important behaviour
- Rate recognition depends on the configured keyword and the Shopify rate name or handle.
- This setting does not create a shipping rate, change its price or validate a courier service area.
- Hiding the rate and hiding the payment method are separate controls.
Test and confirm the result
Confirm that the expected COD rate changes visibility and that unrelated rates remain appropriate for the test address.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
