Automatically fill city and state from a postal code
Reduce address entry by using the available postal-code lookup.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification → Verification → Where you deliver in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open Where you deliver.
- Enable Fill city and state from the postal code.
- Save.
- Open the storefront address step and choose the destination country.
- Enter a valid postal code and inspect the filled city and state.
- Confirm the shopper can supply accurate address details when lookup is unavailable.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Verification → Where you deliver — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
A shopper enters a supported postal code and checks the suggested city before completing the rest of the street address.
Limitations and important behaviour
- The recorded interface explicitly says Ireland and Singapore are not covered; shoppers type those details themselves.
- Lookup does not prove that an address is complete or deliverable.
- Do not treat a suggested city as verified identity or courier serviceability.
Test and confirm the result
Test a supported destination and a destination without lookup coverage, including the mobile address form.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
