Hide the COD payment method until the customer is verified
Use the verification state to control the selected COD payment method at checkout.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification → Verification → At checkout in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Confirm the COD payment method exists in Shopify and its name is saved in Rivio.
- Activate COD verification.
- Under At checkout, enable Hide Cash on Delivery until verified.
- Save.
- Open a fresh storefront session and reach checkout without completing verification.
- Complete verification through the popup and check the payment step again.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Verification → At checkout — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
A store wants online payment available while COD becomes available only after the shopper completes the code step.
Limitations and important behaviour
- This control concerns the named COD method, not every manual payment method.
- Popup visibility exclusions and skip settings can affect the journey; test those combinations.
- Do not describe this setting as a guarantee that every checkout entry point is intercepted.
Test and confirm the result
Check both an unverified and verified session with the same cart, address and delivery selection.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
