Collect a GST number during the address step
Add a GST-number input to the popup address step when it is relevant to your customers.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification → Verification → Where you deliver in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open Where you deliver.
- Enable Ask for a GST number.
- Save.
- Open Settings → Address step to review the address wording available in your app.
- Preview the popup address form.
- Submit a test journey with a sample identifier and check the resulting order information before relying on it operationally.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Verification → Where you deliver — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
A merchant serving business buyers adds the field so buyers can provide their GST number during address entry.
Limitations and important behaviour
- Collecting a GST number does not establish that it is valid or change Shopify tax treatment.
- Do not assume invoice integration, mandatory entry or a particular storage field unless verified in an order.
- Avoid entering real customer identifiers into public screenshots.
Test and confirm the result
Check the field display and locate the submitted value in your actual order workflow. Ask support if the destination is unclear.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
