Why Can’t an Applicant Submit the Form?
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.
Review required fields, validation, upload limits, reCAPTCHA, blocked domains, and duplicate protection when a Shopify application fails.
Before you begin
Record the affected store, form name, slug, application reference if available, and approximate time. Reproduce the issue once with dummy data and note the exact message before changing settings.
Use the visible error to narrow the cause
A failed submit may be caused by a required answer, invalid email/number, disallowed upload, incomplete step, reCAPTCHA, a blocked domain, or identical data inside the duplicate window. The correction depends on which check failed.
First inspect whether a completed application exists in Submissions. If it does, a missing email or external sync is a different problem from storefront submission. Avoid turning off every protection for one invalid attempt.
Reference and examples
| Error area | Correction |
|---|---|
| Required/format | Complete the required question with the expected answer type. |
| File | Use an allowed actual type below the field limit and 20 MB hard maximum. |
| Challenge | Complete v2 challenge; check keys/domain if verification fails. |
| Email domain | Use an allowed legitimate address or ask the owner to review policy. |
| Duplicate | Use a distinct valid test or review the configured repeat policy. |
| Application already received | Investigate success/email/integration behavior separately. |
Diagnose and resolve the problem
Read the error displayed on the storefront.
Complete every required field and all steps.
Check email, number, choice, and file values against the field settings.
Verify the Google challenge and allowed email domain.
Check whether identical data was already submitted within the duplicate window.
Retry with valid fresh data and confirm the application reaches Submissions.
Example
Try an empty required email, then a valid email with an oversized document, then valid data and an accepted file.
Expected result
The displayed validation explains each failure and the valid fresh application reaches Submissions.
Limits and important behavior
- File uploads cannot exceed 20 MB per file.
- A duplicate window of 0 means the same submission is never allowed again according to the recorded helper.
- Do not disable every protection to troubleshoot one rejected application.
If you still need help
If the checks do not resolve the issue, contact support@rivioapps.com with the affected form or application reference, time, exact error, and what you already tested. Mask private applicant data and never include API keys or SMTP passwords.
