Customize the Payment step and tax note

Explain the available payment choices and what happens when no offer applies.

Before you start

Open Settings → Payment step in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open Settings → Payment step.
  2. Review the Pay via heading and Note above the options.
  3. Edit loading-button text and loading-message wording where supplied.
  4. Configure the no-option message if you want an explanation for unmatched carts.
  5. Decide whether to show the tax note and enter an accurate short message.
  6. Save and test matching and non-matching carts.

Example and use case

A store can say Choose how to pay above the offers and Taxes computed later below them when that reflects its checkout.

Limitations and important behaviour

  • The Payment step is reached only when at least one payment option is on.
  • The tax note changes messaging rather than tax or deposit calculations.
  • A promotional note does not create a discount or dispatch commitment.

Test and confirm the result

Check the loaded offers, fallback and mobile preview, then compare the chosen option with checkout.

Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
