Customize the Contact step, error messages and skip option

Explain the verification request and decide whether shoppers may continue without verification.

Before you start

Open Settings → Contact step in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Edit the Heading, Subtitle, Placeholder text and Send button label.
  2. Use wording that matches the configured email verification method.
  3. Set One message for every contact error if a single generic message is appropriate; leave it blank to use the specific advanced messages.
  4. Under Allow shoppers to skip, decide whether Show a skip button should be enabled.
  5. Review Advanced text, including the COD fee notice where relevant.
  6. Save and test valid, invalid and skipped journeys.

Example and use case

Use Verify your email to continue as the heading and Send code as the button label for email verification.

Limitations and important behaviour

  • The generic contact-error message overrides the two specific advanced messages described by the form.
  • The skip option is offered on this step only. The interface says skipped shoppers are not tagged as verified.
  • Allowing skip can affect how your verification restrictions feel to shoppers; test the checkout result.

Test and confirm the result

Check empty and malformed contact entries, a valid request and the skip path if enabled.

Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
