How to Create a Multi-Step Form
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.
Split a long Shopify wholesale application into steps with Next and Back navigation in Rivio B2B Registration Forms.
Before you begin
Open the selected form’s Appearance settings for visual changes. Check every page and popup using that form, because the same saved appearance is reused. Keep a copy of existing Custom CSS before changing it.
Split a long form into manageable sections
Multi-step layout lets applicants use Next and Back instead of seeing every question on one page. Group related questions, such as Contact, Business, and Documents, so each step has a clear purpose. Single-page forms remain supported.
The steps do not change what approval rules evaluate. Conditional field visibility also does not skip pages. Test navigation, required answers, and the final submission, then use step-progression analytics to investigate where visitors stop.
Set up this workflow
Open the form Settings and select Content & behavior.
Enable the multi-step form option.
Add the step names that describe your application sections.
Return to Edit form and assign each field to the appropriate step.
Save and preview the order of questions and navigation.
Complete a storefront test using Next and Back, then inspect the final submission.
Example
Use Business details, Primary contact, Supporting documents, and Final details as four clear application steps.
Expected result
Next and Back move through the configured groups, and a completed valid application contains answers from the steps.
Limits and important behavior
- Single-page forms remain supported when multi-step is disabled.
- Conditional field logic does not skip pages or steps.
- Use analytics step drop-off to assess where applicants abandon the form.
Troubleshooting and verification
If questions appear in the wrong step, review each field’s step assignment and the saved step order. Move forward and back with dummy answers before submitting. Hiding a conditional field does not skip the step containing it.

Show the controls used to open the form Settings and select Content & behavior. Add a second screenshot showing the result of this check: Complete a storefront test using Next and Back, then inspect the final submission. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
