Understanding the Form Settings Tabs
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.
Use Appearance, Content & behavior, and Advanced settings to configure a Shopify registration form’s design, submission behavior, and approvals.
Before you begin
Open the selected form’s Appearance settings for visual changes. Check every page and popup using that form, because the same saved appearance is reused. Keep a copy of existing Custom CSS before changing it.
Where different settings belong
Use the builder for questions and their order. Use form settings for the selected form's appearance, content and submission behavior, approval configuration, and advanced features. Shop-wide settings, including SMTP sender and reCAPTCHA keys, are configured separately.
Identify the scope before editing: a form setting affects that form, while a shared sender or domain blocklist can affect more than one workflow. Save in the page you changed; a preview does not mean an unsaved setting was stored.
Example
On a test form, locate design settings, submission behavior, and approval rules before making changes. Change only the success message for the first test.
Expected result
The applicant sees the updated success message and the approval policy remains the one you reviewed.
Limits and important behavior
- Some shop-wide settings, such as sending method and Google reCAPTCHA keys, are configured separately in app Settings.
- Save explicitly; navigating away can leave changes unsaved.
Troubleshooting and verification
If a style does not appear, reopen the saved Appearance settings and verify the page loads the same form slug. For clipping or excess width, check the containing theme section and Custom CSS as well as the form’s padding and field layout.
Screenshots to add
Screenshot placeholder: Capture the app screen or test result described in “Understanding the Form Settings Tabs”. Include the relevant saved settings and the example outcome so readers can connect the explanation to the interface. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
