Understanding Views, Submissions, and Conversion Rates
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.
Interpret Shopify registration views and submissions as a form funnel, with conversion describing the proportion that submit.
Before you begin
Select the form and reporting period you want to inspect. Use a known storefront visit and application as a test, and keep visit, submission, approval, and sales counts separate when interpreting results.
What the percentage describes
Form conversion relates completed submissions to recorded views for the selected form and period. An illustrative 10 submissions from 100 views is 10%. More views without more applications may indicate unclear questions, document friction, or poor audience fit.
Recorded views are not necessarily unique buyers and tracking can fail without blocking a submission. Use the reported scope and definitions when interpreting the ratio; it does not measure approved buyers, orders, or sales revenue.
Example
If many visitors open the application but few submit it, check whether required document uploads or unclear questions create friction.
Expected result
The view and submission figures are read for the same selection; a change is evaluated using new traffic rather than an assumed cause.
Limits and important behavior
- Do not equate registrations with orders or revenue.
- Tracking failure can produce differences from submission counts.
- Very small samples can make percentage changes misleading.
Troubleshooting and verification
If figures seem inconsistent, compare the same form and period and confirm that the tested page uses that form’s slug. Tracking can fail without blocking submission, so the inbox and analytics do not have to match exactly.
