How to Configure Duplicate-Submission Protection
What you will achieve in this guide
Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.
Control repeated Shopify registration submissions with a duplicate window measured in hours.
Before you begin
Choose a test form and review the current protection settings before changing them. Use dummy submissions to check allowed and blocked cases. Google reCAPTCHA keys are configured separately from enabling reCAPTCHA on each form.
Choose how long identical applications are blocked
Duplicate protection detects the same submission inside your configured window. The recorded default is 24 hours; the settings helper defines 0 as never allowing the same submission again, not as disabling protection.
Use a fresh applicant or meaningfully different valid test data when building demonstrations. Review the duplicate error before concluding that the submit button, integration, or storefront block is broken.
Set up this workflow
Open app Settings and locate Duplicate submission window.
Review the recorded default of 24 hours.
Enter the time window suited to your application process.
Use 0 only when you intend to never allow the same submission again, as described by the settings helper.
Save and submit identical test data twice, then test different data.
Confirm duplicate handling matches the intended policy.
Example
Set a 24-hour duplicate window and submit the same complete test answers twice. Use a genuinely distinct applicant for the next valid test.
Expected result
The identical repeat is blocked inside the configured window; changing an unrelated display setting does not reset the duplicate policy.
Limits and important behavior
- The setting addresses identical submissions, not a universal one-application-per-person rule.
- During testing, repeated data may be blocked even when the form is configured correctly.
- A long or permanent window can prevent legitimate repeated applications.
Troubleshooting and verification
If your second test is blocked, compare it with the configured duplicate window; the default is 24 hours and a never-repeat policy can also apply. Use a distinct dummy test submission rather than repeatedly resending identical answers.

Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
