Understand automatic discounts, discount labels and displayed savings

Keep promotional wording consistent with the discount actually applied.

Before you start

Open Features → COD verification → Payment options → Discount / What the customer sees in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the payment option and review its numeric discount settings.
  2. Check the discount label and customer-facing description.
  3. Use the supported {{discount}} placeholder where a calculated saving is needed.
  4. Review any fixed Price wording because it overrides the displayed figure only.
  5. Save and compare popup savings with checkout.
  6. Test alongside any other active promotions before advertising combined savings.

Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Payment options → Discount / What the customer sees — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.

Example and use case

A description showing Save {{discount}} stays aligned with the calculated saving more reliably than a static Save 100 message on carts of different values.

Limitations and important behaviour

  • A label is presentation, not a second discount.
  • Automatic application means the shopper does not manually enter a code; it does not guarantee all discounts combine.
  • Do not promise a calculated saving based solely on a hard-coded preview phrase.

Test and confirm the result

Change the cart amount and check the savings, checkout reduction and customer-facing copy together.

Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
