Add a percentage discount to a payment option
Give customers an automatic percentage reduction when they choose an eligible payment option.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification → Payment options → Discount in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open the intended payment option.
- Under Discount type, select Percentage off.
- Enter Discount percentage.
- Set an accurate discount label where the form provides it.
- Review the option eligibility, save, and inspect the preview.
- Select the option in a storefront test and check the checkout discount.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification → Payment options → Discount — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
A 10% discount on an illustrative eligible amount of 1000 reduces it by 100 before separate shipping or tax effects. Confirm how the resulting deposit is displayed in the actual preview.
Limitations and important behaviour
- The interface says the discount is applied automatically; the shopper does not type a code.
- Do not assume compatibility with every other discount or a particular order of calculations.
- A discount is separate from the percentage collected upfront.
Test and confirm the result
Test the discounted amount, deposit and remaining balance, including a checkout with another promotion if your store uses one.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
