How to Edit an Existing Form

What you will achieve in this guide

Follow this step-by-step documentation to configure custom B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and customer tagging.

EXPECTED SETUP TIME 5-10 Minutes
COMPATIBILITY All Shopify Themes & Plans
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY Zero Code Required

Update fields and settings in an existing Shopify B2B registration form while keeping its storefront slug and placement.

Before you begin

Identify the form by both its internal name and slug before making changes. Check where that slug is used on your storefront, and review dependent rules or mappings before removing questions.

Which changes need a follow-up check

Editing a label changes what visitors read. Editing choice values, removing fields, or changing mappings can also affect conditional visibility and approval rules that depend on those fields. Review the dependent settings after the builder edit.

Keep the existing slug when you want the current storefront blocks to continue loading this form. If you change the slug, update every block using the old value. Test on the actual page, because editing the wrong duplicate or template can leave the visible form unchanged.

Set up this workflow

  1. Open Forms and choose the form you want to edit.

  2. Confirm the form name and slug so you do not change another application flow.

  3. Edit field labels, options, validation, mapping, or the field order.

  4. Open the form settings to review any affected display or approval configuration.

  5. Select Save to persist the changes.

  6. Preview the form and submit a fresh test application to verify the revised fields.

Example

On a demo copy, change the label Business name to Registered business name and add help text asking for the legal name.

Expected result

A fresh application shows the new wording and stores the applicant's answer.

Limits and important behavior

  • Saving updates the existing form rather than creating a separate version.
  • Renaming a slug requires updating every theme block that uses it.
  • Changes to fields can affect rules that refer to those fields.

Troubleshooting and verification

If the preview and storefront differ, save the builder, reopen the form to confirm the saved version, and compare its slug with the Wholesale form block. A similarly named form can be a separate copy with different settings.

Screenshots to add

Screenshot placeholder: Capture the relevant app screen for “How to Edit an Existing Form” after completing the setup. Show the controls used to open Forms and choose the form you want to edit. Add a second screenshot showing the result of this check: Preview the form and submit a fresh test application to verify the revised fields. Use dummy applicant details and mask any secrets.
