COD is unexpectedly visible or missing at checkout
Check the method name, verification state and selected shipping rate together.
Before you start
Open Features → COD verification / COD fee in your store. Use the current saved configuration and a controlled test cart. For storefront features, confirm the Rivio theme app embed is enabled on the theme being tested.
Step-by-step instructions
- Confirm the COD method is active in Shopify Payments.
- Compare its exact displayed name with the name saved in Rivio.
- Review Hide Cash on Delivery until verified.
- Check whether the test shopper has completed or skipped verification.
- If Require the COD rate is enabled, inspect the selected shipping rate and keyword.
- Compare fresh verified and unverified sessions, including pickup if offered.
Screenshot to add: Features → COD verification / COD fee — show the relevant settings described above. Hide customer details, contact blocklists and verification codes.
Example and use case
COD may be unavailable after verification if a required keyword-matched shipping rate has not been selected.
Limitations and important behaviour
- Shipping zones can make a rate unavailable before Rivio evaluates the payment choice.
- Pickup exceptions differ from delivery-rate behaviour.
- Do not infer a global cart-value restriction from a payment-option condition.
Test and confirm the result
Give support the method name, destination, shipping-rate name, verification state and visible checkout result, with personal data redacted.
Save configuration changes before testing. A settings preview confirms presentation; inspect the storefront, checkout or Shopify order for the actual outcome described in this guide.
